Hello everyone,
Our first football practice is only two days away and I wanted to give everyone I quick note with some reminders and new information.
(1) Practice will start 5:30 sharp.
Please have the players on the field 10 minutes before. 2 hours seems like a long time but it really is not. We have a lot to cover and very limited time.
(2) Parents & Players Meeting:
Please stick around for at least the first 1/2 hour. You are more than welcome to stay for the whole practice but I need to have everyone stay for the first 30 minutes. We will need to review helmet safety with parents and players and this will require your signature. This is required before your player can participate in full contact.
(3) Practice location:
Unlike years past the league is try something new. We will be rotating weekly to one of 5 fields designated to the JV teams. I've attached the schedule and and map of the park. I will also remind everyone as we go. The first week we will be on what is being called JV 9. For the players who were on Freshman Gold last year it is on the opposite end of the field we practiced on last year. For everyone else, use the map and look for the sea of Gold when you enter the park. You should have no problem.
(4) BRING WATER!!!!!
Please, please, please bring water or Gatorade. It will be getting hot up there. Current weather forecast is 86 with isolated thunder-storms. What the means to us is hot and humid. You will need to have water to keep hydrated. I will have some but please bring your own. Some players in the past have also brought a small cooler to keep a cool wash cloth.
(5) What to wear:
The first 3 practices will be helmets only as far as equipment is concerned. Players will need to have helmets, mouth guards, cleats, cups, shorts and practice jerseys.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something but this is good for now. Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing all of you on Monday. We are going to have a great season!!!
GO GOLD!!!!!
