Game Day Announcements

Well its finally here!  After four weeks of hard work we have our first game of the season.  We will be traveling to play Hartland White.  Here is the address if you are unaware:

(old) Hartland High School
9525 E Highland Rd.
Hartland, MI 48353
M-59 one mile west of US-23 on the right hand side.

Our game is scheduled to start at 11:00.  All players should be at Hartland, dressed and ready to play by 9:45.  We will start warming up at 10:00.

Please note some of the other recent announcements:
(1) From Bob Allen, the MHSAA Head Referee as well as the Head LCAJFL Referee.  Mouth guards must be colored regardless if it has a strap.  No clear mouth guards.  Players cannot play with a clear mouth guard.  The purpose of this is for the safety of the player by helping the officials ensure the players have their mouth guards in place.

(2) The Fire Marshal in Hartland has notified us that no parking is allowed against the curb on the east/west side of our parking lot.  The curb has been marked yellow and there are no parking signs posted.  This was a problem last year and the Fire Marshal will be ticketing cars this year that park in this zone.  This zone needs to be kept clear in case there is an emergency.

Panther Jamboree Schedule

Hello JV Gold,
We finally have the schedule for this Saturday's Jamboree and it looks like we have a full day.  It will be held at South Lyon East High School which is located on Ten mile and Johns Rd.  Our pictures are scheduled for 10:20 so please arrive and dressed by 10:00.

Wear your GAME uniforms:
-full pads
-blue game pants
-gold belt

We should receive our game jerseys that day.  Please have your practice jersey with you just in case.  If it rains there will be a make up day for pictures but that has not been scheduled.

During & following pictures there are the Freshman scrimmages.  At 11:30 there is the POM and Cheer presentation followed by team introductions at 12:00.  This is for all colors, all levels, football and cheer.  At 12:25 our scrimmage time begins.  We will play each color once for 20 minutes each with one bye.  Against each color we will be only offense or only defense.  Our last scrimmage is scheduled to be completed by 2:05.  It is a long day but it is a great time.

I've attached the detailed schedules for your reference.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

JV Gold's First Scrimmage Friday @ 6:30

This Friday your JV Gold will have it's first scrimmage against JV White at 6:30 on our practice field.  This will be far from a true game situation but it will be the first chance to see how we're starting to gel as a team.  The kids have been working extremely hard and we are all looking forward to see where we are.

I will not be making announcements like this for all the scrimmages during practices but I thought you'd may be interested in the first one.  The Picture Day/Panther Jamboree which is scheduled for August 23rd will be the best opportunity since we will be scrimmaging each color but the schedule has not yet been provided.  We will keep you advised.

End of Season Party Scheduled

Sunday October 26 @ 4:00pm.
Where: Three Cedars Farm
Cost:    $15.00/family.

That cost is to cover the room rental. We will do it pot luck style but we have plenty of time to work all that out.  Ok, I know this is way early but I am asking that we all save the date.  There will be extra activities available at an additional  cost. I did get us a group discount on the corn maze for a price of $3.00/person.  There also are hay rides and pumpkin picking.  We also get a bonfire pit that they will light for us when we are ready to take the party outside. They also have a very nice playground for out littlest ones to enjoy! It's a fun family place for those who have not been there.

Full Contact Begins Today

Just a quick reminder to everyone that full contact begins today.  All equipment must be on or your player will not be able to participate in the drills.  Any player who has missed a practice will also not be able to participate in the full contact drills but they will be able to run through plays.

Second reminder: we will be practicing on field #10 this week.  It's not much of a change for us since it's only the opposite end of the same field we practiced on last week.

See you this afternoon,
Coach Gardner

LTP Parking

See the note below from the Panthers board...

DOGS ALLOWED AT PRACTICE.

Parents
There is to be NO parking on the grass at LTP- Lyon Township Park. If you are
not in a proper parking spot you will be ticketed. There is NO parking on the
sides of the road. There is NO parking on the road at the top of the hill.
Please park in proper parking spots. Drive slow pay attention. We almost had a
child ran over tonight because people were not watching their speed. We are
volunteers who run this organization we are doing the best we can. The people
who do the parking detail are volunteers and parents just like you. I can not
express enough the closer you park to each other the more cars we can fit up
top. When it's full park down below by the baseball fields. There is a
pavilion across the way park there and walk it's not that far. We do not
want our parents getting tickets.

Thank you

Here are a few suggestions on what to eat before games and practices.

You can view the document here.

JVGold Panthers

Hello JV Gold,
I just wanted to take a moment to say how please I am with the effort the players are giving.  They have been working very hard and it will pay dividends during the season.

Please see the note below that I received from the league regarding parking problems.  I recognize that parking is an issue but please make all efforts to use the parking provided.  There is additional parking down at the baseball diamonds.  Remember, Panthers are guests on these fields.  The league negotiates each year for the privilege of using this facilities.  Please make all efforts to honor these request.

See you tonight,

First Practice

Hello everyone,
Our first football practice is only two days away and I wanted to give everyone I quick note with some reminders and new information.

(1) Practice will start 5:30 sharp.
Please have the players on the field 10 minutes before. 2 hours seems like a long time but it really is not. We have a lot to cover and very limited time.

(2) Parents & Players Meeting:
Please stick around for at least the first 1/2 hour. You are more than welcome to stay for the whole practice but I need to have everyone stay for the first 30 minutes. We will need to review helmet safety with parents and players and this will require your signature. This is required before your player can participate in full contact.

(3) Practice location:
Unlike years past the league is try something new. We will be rotating weekly to one of 5 fields designated to the JV teams. I've attached the schedule and and map of the park. I will also remind everyone as we go. The first week we will be on what is being called JV 9. For the players who were on Freshman Gold last year it is on the opposite end of the field we practiced on last year. For everyone else, use the map and look for the sea of Gold when you enter the park. You should have no problem.

(4) BRING WATER!!!!!
Please, please, please bring water or Gatorade. It will be getting hot up there. Current weather forecast is 86 with isolated thunder-storms. What the means to us is hot and humid. You will need to have water to keep hydrated. I will have some but please bring your own. Some players in the past have also brought a small cooler to keep a cool wash cloth.

(5) What to wear:
The first 3 practices will be helmets only as far as equipment is concerned. Players will need to have helmets, mouth guards, cleats, cups, shorts and practice jerseys.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something but this is good for now. Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing all of you on Monday. We are going to have a great season!!!

GO GOLD!!!!!
